24 Hour Pitch: Create an Online Startup in a Day

On October 20th, Oklahoma entrepreneurs will have a unique opportunity to see what it takes to setup the business side of an online start-up during an intense hands-on event called the 24 Hour Pitch. Individuals will learn how to formulate good start-up ideas, build teams to work on those ideas, and how to craft elevator pitches and fast pitch presentations for investors. Individuals will also learn how to setup and structure a business and how to manage real-world business issues like partnership equity, work/life balance, intellectual property protection, and taxes.

The 24 Hour Pitch is geared towards online start-ups, with a focus on the actual process and steps involved to brainstorm ideas, put a team together, and get a business started.  The event is open to anyone who wants to participate, regardless of experience.

You don’t have to already have an idea or a team to participate, since part of the night will be dedicated to helping form great ideas and teams through networking and other activities. If you are interested in online start-ups in any way, you are strongly encouraged to participate in this hands-on learning experience. It’s the best free education that college never gave you – plus you get a chance at winning great prizes for your pitch.

All teams formed during the 24 Hour Pitch event will present their ideas to a crowd of over 150 people in the form of a 3-minute fast pitch at the OpenBeta 3 event two days later on October 22. All pitches will be judged both by a mixed panel of experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and mentors, and by the audience. As with any good competition, there will be over $5,000 worth of prizes given away to the winning pitches including free incorporation services, business tax consulting, commercialization and funding assistance, free co-working at the Oklahoma City Coworking Collaborative, and cash prizes.
