On October 20th, Oklahoma entrepreneurs will have a unique opportunity to see what it takes to setup the business side of an online start-up during an intense hands-on event called the 24 Hour Pitch. Individuals will learn how to formulate good start-up ideas, build teams to work on those ideas, and how to craft elevator pitches and fast pitch presentations for investors. Individuals will also learn how to setup and structure a business and how to manage real-world business issues like partnership equity, work/life balance, intellectual property protection, and taxes.

The 24 Hour Pitch is geared towards online start-ups, with a focus on the actual process and steps involved to brainstorm ideas, put a team together, and get a business started.  The event is open to anyone who wants to participate, regardless of experience.

You don’t have to already have an idea or a team to participate, since part of the night will be dedicated to helping form great ideas and teams through networking and other activities. If you are interested in online start-ups in any way, you are strongly encouraged to participate in this hands-on learning experience. It’s the best free education that college never gave you – plus you get a chance at winning great prizes for your pitch.

OpenBeta 3

All teams formed during the 24 Hour Pitch event will present their ideas to a crowd of over 150 people in the form of a 3-minute fast pitch at the OpenBeta 3 event two days later on October 22. All pitches will be judged both by a mixed panel of experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and mentors, and by the audience. As with any good competition, there will be over $5,000 worth of prizes given away to the winning pitches including free incorporation services, business tax consulting, commercialization and funding assistance, free co-working at the Oklahoma City Coworking Collaborative, and cash prizes.

InvoiceMore: The Updates Before the Storm Thu, 02 Jul 2009 02:33:46 +0000 vlucas It’s been a little quiet here lately, but there’s a huge round of updates on the horizon for InvoiceMore. So instead of just waiting a little longer for those changes and new features to get here,  some  new small updates, improvements, and general maintenance changes have been released.

Some of the highlights:

PayPal Website Payments Pro Integration is no longer the only merchant gateway option. If you have a paid account, you can now accept credit cards with PayPal’s Website Payments Pro service.

All Country Currencies Supported

There is now support for over 160 currencies instead of the most popular 6. Wow, a 27x improvement! (Alright, so we should have included them all at launch, but now they’re in there, okay?)

There’s a lot more to come just ahead, including a very major announcement towards the end of this month.

InvoiceMore Update: Direct Online Client Payments Fri, 01 May 2009 16:35:17 +0000 vlucas InvoiceMore now includes options for direct online payments! Clients can now view invoices online with a link, and submit payments for them directly through PayPal or if enabled and configured. The payments will be automatically recorded and applied to the invoice and client account balance.

InvoiceMore Direct Online Client Payments

PayPal standard payments are available to everyone who has an InvoiceMore account, and the credit card payment option through is available to those who have paid-level accounts only. The ability to specify instructions for sending offline payments like checks or cash is also available to all  account holders, free or paid (not displayed in the screenshot above).

The default email template for sending invoices has been modified to include the invoice link, and attaching a PDF in addition to sending the link is now optional. This is a giant step in the right direction for InvoiceMore (complete billing automation), and we hope it’s a feature that gets well used and appreciated.

We Need Your Feedback

If you currently process credit cards through a different merchant gateway, we’d love to hear from you. We are currently evaluating more payment gateways like PayPal Pro, among others. Please leave any suggestions in the comments.

InvoiceMore User System Updates Wed, 15 Apr 2009 22:24:22 +0000 vlucas InvoiceMore got some fresh user system updates on April 12. Most of them are the unnoticed “behind the scenes” types of updates, but there is one visible change: A password recovery system. It is a little embarrassing to admit, but InvoiceMore did indeed launch without a way for users to reset or change passwords. That issue has been addressed with the most recent updates. After all, who needs password reset features at launch when you have no users?

The more “behind the scenes” changes in this update build the foundations for multiple user logins per account, a feature that is currently in the works for paid accounts.

Search Filters on Invoices and Payments Tue, 31 Mar 2009 03:10:41 +0000 vlucas A very helpful new feature has finally made it to InvoiceMore: search filters for invoices and payments. Invoices can be filtered by status, due date, and invoice number. Payments can be filtered by date and invoice number.

This is one of those simple features that had to get cut from the initial release at the last minute to make the launch deadline. So while this new feature annoucement isn’t anything particularly exciting by itself, there are many more small updates like this in queue to be finished for the live application that are sure to make your life a little easier. Stay tuned for more updates coming soon!

If not, you can always take the feature tour on the InvoiceMore website.

Official Beta Launch Today Sun, 18 Jan 2009 22:30:30 +0000 vlucas After 5 months of long nights, weekends, and development crossing over into the early hours of the morning, InvoiceMore has officially launched the limited beta program.  The goal of a December 2008 beta launch was missed by about two weeks, caused mostly by a last-minute server change and a longer than expected domain name transfer to a registrar that supported more advanced DNS configurations.

If you missed the beta signup period but still want to be notified when InvoiceMore launches, just enter your name and email in the notification form on the homepage.  Your email will be used only for launch notification and nothing else – don’t worry – I hate spam too.

The beta period should last around a month or a little bit longer, depending on how many changes and updates there are.  Changes and adustments will be made to the application based directly from the feedback received from beta testers, so if you’re a beta tester – please be open, honest, and liberal with your feedback.  Constructive critisism is exactly what InvoiceMore needs right now in it’s early beta stages to become a better product.

The content is currently only for the local community and the limited audience present at the event.  More details about the specifics of InvoiceMore will be released to the general public somewhere between the limited beta and public launch.
